Krista is a retired teacher with 30 years of experience teaching and working with elementary, middle and high school students. During this time, she obtained her Masters in Counseling and Development from Lamar University. While in the classroom she was responsible for teaching the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum in the classroom along with helping her outgoing seniors with post-secondary and career planning and preparation. Krista is also an LCDC (License Chemical Dependency Counselor) and works PRN for a rehabilitation center in Fredericksburg and also works as a part-time counselor at their IOP (intensive outpatient facility) during the week.
During her internship experience she worked with young children and teens currently in the Department of Family and Protective Service (DFPS) system that had been removed from their family. She counseled residents experiencing severe trauma. This led to extensive training in trauma, specifically Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT). Krista also worked with youth experiencing depression, anxiety, family (system) issues, anger, self-harming, ADHD, OCD, PTSD and Bipolar Disorder.
Krista's approach to counseling is one that is primarily tailored to the needs of her client. She has been trained and has used Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Reality Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, and is BrainSpotting (BSP) trained, which has been found to work well with severe and complex trauma issues.
Krista is passionate about creating a safe place for her clients to share and work collaboratively to obtain their therapeutic goals. She values a healthy therapeutic relationship in which clients feel comfortable exploring all the areas of need.
Krista is also a certified yoga instructor with over 15 years of experience working with athletes, children and adults and she believes in the importance of finding balance in life. She practices mindfulness training and teaches the importance of self-care.

I graduated with an MS in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University, and hold an Executive Certificate while enrolled in my PhD in Developmental Psychology. I have been a psychotherapist for 4 years as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. In my preparation to be a clinician I learned equality for all and that everyone's story is unique. I am here to understand your story and bring to light the future hope it entails. I have worked with many populations such as LGBTQ+, Military, Adolescents and Couples. I specialize in family, couples, and individuals ages 10+. My focus has been on depression, anxiety, bi-polar, relationships, and crisis situations and many other symptoms of mental health discomfort. I work through Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques while seeking other treatments that you find effective. My therapy incorporates communication skills, support, respect and understanding through building trust so together we accomplish your goals. Ultimately, I want to help you navigate your goals that are important to you to help you live your best life.

Donna has extensive experience in grief counseling, enjoys working with adolescents, couples, and individuals. Integrative health and collaboration of care with physicians is a high priority for her. Donna is a NAMI volunteer, an Affirmative Coach member and ally of 2SLGBTQIA+, and certified in Intensive Trauma Treatment with Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk. She believes in exploring a client's challenges together in collaboration, with an emphasis on using each person's core strengths to explore and find practical solutions. Therapy is often brief, focused on solutions, and integrates spiritual, emotional and behavioral approaches. Depression, anxiety, family issues and recovering from trauma are areas of her expertise. A few of her favorite things: road trips, monasteries, creating mosaic art, and hearing people’s stories.
